译词 | 微信“拍一拍”为什么是 nudge 而不是 pat？

此功能支持用户在群聊和个人对话中提醒对方，但这一提醒方式并不明显。被“拍”的朋友基本不会有明显的提示，既不会像QQ“抖一抖”那样双方对话框会有抖动提示，也不会像“群@”让对方收到红色的强提醒。但聊天的对话框还是会被显示到前排的位置。

小伙伴们最近使用“拍一拍”了吗？那么，你知道“拍一拍”用英语怎么说吗？

可能很多小伙伴第一反应是“pat”，但是微信官方给出的翻译是“nudge” ↓

那么这两个词有什么区别呢？

nudge 在牛津词典中的解释是：

① to push sb gently, especially with your elbow, in order to get their attention （用肘）轻推，轻触。

例如：

He nudged me and whispered, ‘Look who's just come in.’

他用胳膊肘碰了我一下，低声说：“瞧谁进来了。”

这里 nudge强调轻推对方，提醒对方注意，比较符合微信“拍一拍”功能的作用。

另外，nudge 还有以下几个意思：

② to push sb/sth gently or gradually in a particular direction （朝某方向）轻推，渐渐推动

He nudged the ball past the goalie and into the net.

他轻松地将球推过守门员，送入网中。

She tried to nudge him into changing his mind (= persuade him to do it) .

她试图慢慢说服他改变主意。

③ to move forward by pushing with your elbow 用胳膊肘挤开往前走

He nudged his way through the crowd.

他用胳膊肘开路穿过人群。

④ to reach or make sth reach a particular level （使）达到，接近

Inflation is nudging 20%.

通货膨胀即将达到20%。

This afternoon's sunshine could nudge the temperature above freezing.

今天下午的阳光可使温度达到冰点以上。

另外，它还可以作名词，表示（肘部的）轻推，碰。

例如：

She gave me a gentle nudge in the ribs to tell me to shut up.

她用胳膊肘捅了一下我的腰，让我住口。

那我们再来看看 pat 是如何“拍”的，根据牛津词典，pat 表示：

to touch sb/sth gently several times with your hand flat, especially as a sign of affection （喜爱地）轻拍

She patted the dog on the head.

她轻轻地拍着狗的头。

He patted his sister's hand consolingly.

他轻拍着妹妹的手安慰她。

因此，pat更侧重于对人或宠物带有感情地轻拍，表示一种爱抚。不侧重于轻拍对方引起注意，因此“拍一拍”功能不用pat，而用nudge。

另外，pat sb/yourself on the back 这个短语表示表扬，称赞（某人╱自己）。

Pat也可以作名词，表示（友善的）轻拍，拍打。

He gave her knee an affectionate pat.

他温情地拍了拍她的膝盖。
