这世界上总有一些脑洞大开的科学家，对一些听起来不那么严肃的问题产生了好奇心，并亲自动手研究，形成科研成果，还在知名期刊上发表论文。

There are always some imaginative scientists who are curious about seemingly less serious questions and take it upon themselves to study and generate scientific findings, which they then publish in reputable journals.

比如，纽约大学格罗斯曼医学院的孙祺，对“不能拔头发，越拔白头发越多”这个传闻产生兴趣，于是带领团队实验了两年，他们通过反复拔掉老鼠背上的毛发，再等待毛发再生，并通过显微镜观察和基因研究来找到“拔头发”和“长白发”之间的关系，直到这些黑老鼠渐渐变成了黑白相间的老鼠。

研究发现：毛发被反复拔掉又长出时，毛囊内负责提供黑色素的干细胞更容易“忙中出错”，日积月累会加速变白。这项研究不仅证实了一个口口相传的流言，更进一步揭示了毛发变白的机制之一。

科学界最高荣誉诺贝尔奖，评审要求是“对全人类作出极大贡献”的科研成果。但这些不那么深奥、没有在历史上留下浓重印记的科研成果值得被关注吗？

The highest honor in the scientific community, the Nobel Prize, requires research results that have made “enormous contributions to humanity”. But are other research findings that are not so profound and have not left a strong imprint in scientific history also worth paying attention to?

在欧洲，搞笑诺贝尔奖颁发给“乍一看很好笑仔细一读很有道理”的科研论文；在美国，金鹅奖颁发给“一开始没啥用后来发现很重要”的研究成果，称赞它们是下金蛋的鹅……而在中国，我们有菠萝科学奖，褒奖那些“并无野心改变世界、但也不会被世界摧毁好奇心的人”。

In Europe, there is the Ig Nobel Prize, which is awarded to research papers that are “funny at first glance but meaningful upon closer inspection”. In the United States, there is the Golden Goose Award, which is given to research results that were initially deemed useless but later found to be significant, appreciating them as the goose that laid the golden eggs.

And in China, we have the Pineapple Science Award, honoring those who are “not ambitious enough to change the world but also won’t let the world destroy their curiosity”.

孙祺和她的研究团队凭借这一研究成果，获得了2023菠萝科学奖医学奖。

这一奖项于2012年成立，并在2019年纳入世界青年科学家峰会，成为其子项目之一。上周六，2023菠萝科学奖在浙江温州揭晓，同时颁发的还有菠萝奖的数学奖、事件奖等共十个奖项。

其中，“关心下一代奖”颁发给了中山大学中山眼科中心刘奕志、曾阳发团队。他们在24所小学的两千多名学生中展开实验，一半学生被要求在放学后的托管时间里户外活动两小时，另一半则不被要求户外。一年之后，每天多玩了俩小时的孩子，成绩表现跟另一半相比没有差异，但是近视发病率降低了，身体状况也得到了很大的提升。

The Pineapple Science “Caring for the Next Generation Award” was presented to Liu Yizhi from Sun Yat-sen University’s Zhongshan Ophthalmic Center and his team. They conducted an experiment on over 2,000 students from 24 primary schools, with half of the students required to engage in outdoor activities for two hours after school, while the other half were not required to do so.

After a year, the children who played outdoors for an extra two hours each day showed no difference in academic performance compared to the other students, but they had a significantly lower incidence of myopia and improved physical condition.

中山大学眼科团队之所以做这个实验，是因为十几年前，科学家们就已经发现，青少年近视的重要原因并不是看电视玩手机，而是户外活动时间太少、眼睛进光量不足。每天多给小学生一两小时户外活动，他们的近视发生率就会明显下降。这一实验成果也很好地证实了这一说法。

The Zhongshan Ophthalmic Center’s Eye Research Institute conducted the experiment to substantiate a discovery made by scientists more than a decade ago that one of the important causes of myopia in adolescents was not watching TV or playing on smartphones but rather the lack of time spent in outdoor activities and inadequate exposure to natural light.

The institute’s study proved that providing primary school students with an extra hour or two of outdoor activities every day can significantly decrease the incidence of myopia.

估计这是最受中小学生欢迎的科研成果之一了，颁奖现场的学生观众们都沸腾了。

来自荷兰阿姆斯特丹大学的弗兰蒂谢克·巴托斯（František Bartoš）和她的团队因为好奇抛硬币正反面朝上的结果到底是不是各自50%，组织了一场抛硬币马拉松，48名大学师生用46种不同硬币，其中还包括人民币，总共抛了350757次，详细记录每次开始和落下时硬币的朝向。最终结论：硬币往往会更容易落在它抛起时的同侧，比例大约51:49。

根据经典概率论，均匀硬币大量实验该无限逼近50%才对，这已经算是明显的偏离。凭借这种兼具“不怕麻烦和闲得难受”的精神，巴托斯团队获得了2023菠萝科学奖数学奖。
