President Xi Jinping meets with U.S. President Joe Biden

On November 15 local time, President Xi Jinping and U.S. President Joe Biden held a summit meeting at the Filoli Estate, San Francisco. The two heads of state had a candid and in-depth exchange of views on strategic and overarching issues critical to the direction of China-U.S. relations and on major issues affecting world peace and development.

当地时间2023年11月15日，国家主席习近平在美国旧金山斐洛里庄园同美国总统拜登举行中美元首会晤。两国元首就事关中美关系的战略性、全局性、方向性问题以及事关世界和平和发展的重大问题坦诚深入地交换了意见。

The two presidents acknowledged the efforts of their respective teams to discuss the development of principles related to China-U.S. relations since the meeting in Bali. They stressed the importance of all countries treating each other with respect and finding a way to live alongside each other peacefully, and of maintaining open lines of communication, preventing conflict, upholding the U.N. Charter, cooperating in areas of shared interest, and responsibly managing competitive aspects of the relationship. The leaders welcomed continued discussions in this regard.

两国元首认可双方团队自巴厘岛会晤以来讨论确立中美关系指导原则所作努力，强调要相互尊重、和平共处、保持沟通、防止冲突、恪守《联合国宪章》，在有共同利益的领域开展合作，负责任地管控双边关系中的竞争因素。两国元首欢迎双方团队继续就此讨论。

The meeting was positive, comprehensive and constructive. It has charted the course for improving and developing China-U.S. relations. And San Francisco should be a new starting point for stabilizing China-U.S. relations. They instructed their teams to build on the understandings reached in Bali and to timely follow up on and implement the new vision agreed on at San Francisco. The two heads of state agreed to continue their regular contact.

这次会晤积极、全面、富有建设性，为改善和发展中美关系指明了方向。旧金山应该成为稳定中美关系的新起点。两国元首责成双方团队在落实好巴厘岛会晤共识基础上，及时跟进和落实本次会晤达成的新愿景。两国元首同意继续保持经常性联系。

The 30th Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Economic Leaders' Meeting kicked off in San Francisco, the United States, on Thursday with an aim to build a more interconnected, innovative, and inclusive APEC region.

11月16日，亚太经合组织第三十次领导人非正式会议（简称：2023年APEC会议）在美国旧金山开幕，旨在打造一个“相互连接、创新和包容”的亚太地区。

The meeting, held in Moscone Center in downtown San Francisco, was chaired by US President Joe Biden.

此次会议在旧金山市中心的莫斯克尼中心举行，由美国总统拜登主持。

The leaders' meeting gathered political and business leaders from 21 APEC member economies.

The number of express packages collected during "Double 11," China's shopping festival similar to Black Friday, has proven the resilience and strong recovery of China's economy from the COVID-19 pandemic, Kresimir Macan, a Croatian economic expert, told Xinhua in an interview on Monday.

克罗地亚经济专家可莱丝米尔·麦坎11月13日在接受新华社采访时表示，“双11”购物节期间揽收快递包裹数量充分彰显疫情后中国经济的韧性和强劲回升。

"Many people have argued that the Chinese economy is facing bad days, that its production has fallen and that the forecast is bad. The latest data refutes them and shows the resilience and strong recovery of the Chinese economy," Macan said.

麦坎说：“一些人认为，中国经济正面临困境。最新数据驳斥了这些说法，彰显了中国经济的韧性和强劲回升。”

According to China's State Post Bureau, between Nov. 1 and Nov. 11, postal express companies across the country collected about 5.26 billion express packages, a year-on-year increase of 23.22 percent. On Nov. 11 alone, a total of 639 million express parcels were collected, which was 1.87 times the "normal" daily business volume and represented a year-on-year increase of 15.76 percent.

China's real gross domestic product (GDP) is projected to grow by 5.4 percent in 2023, an International Monetary Fund (IMF) statement said on Nov. 7. Macan noted that other financial institutions such as JP Morgan, the UBS and Deutsche Bank have also raised their forecasts for China's economic growth this year.
