Joint Statement on China-U.S. Economic and Trade Meeting in Geneva
中华人民共和国政府（“中国”）和美利坚合众国政府（“美国”），
The Government of the People's Republic of China ("China") and the Government of the United States of America (the "United States"),
认识到双边经贸关系对两国和全球经济的重要性；
Recognizing the importance of their bilateral economic and trade relationship to both countries and the global economy;
认识到可持续的、长期的、互利的双边经贸关系的重要性；
Recognizing the importance of a sustainable, long-term, and mutually beneficial economic and trade relationship;
鉴于双方近期的讨论，相信持续的协商有助于解决双方在经贸领域关切的问题；
Reflecting on their recent discussions and believing that continued discussions have the potential to address the concerns of each side in their economic and trade relationship; and
本着相互开放、持续沟通、合作和相互尊重的精神，继续推进相关工作；
Moving forward in the spirit of mutual opening, continued communication, cooperation, and mutual respect;
双方承诺将于2025年5月14日前采取以下举措：
The Parties commit to take the following actions by May 14, 2025:
美国将（一）修改2025年4月2日第14257号行政令中规定的对中国商品（包括香港特别行政区和澳门特别行政区商品）加征的从价关税，其中，24%的关税在初始的90天内暂停实施，同时保留按该行政令的规定对这些商品加征剩余10%的关税；（二）取消根据2025年4月8日第14259号行政令和2025年4月9日第14266号行政令对这些商品的加征关税。
The United States will (i) modify the application of the additional ad valorem rate of duty on articles of China (including articles of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region and the Macau Special Administrative Region) set forth in Executive Order 14257 of April 2, 2025, by suspending 24 percentage points of that rate for an initial period of 90 days, while retaining the remaining ad valorem rate of 10 percent on those articles pursuant to the terms of said Order; and (ii) removing the modified additional ad valorem rates of duty on those articles imposed by Executive Order 14259 of April 8, 2025 and Executive Order 14266 of April 9, 2025.
中国将（一）相应修改税委会公告2025年第4号规定的对美国商品加征的从价关税，其中，24%的关税在初始的90天内暂停实施，同时保留对这些商品加征剩余10%的关税，并取消根据税委会公告2025年第5号和第6号对这些商品的加征关税；（二）采取必要措施，暂停或取消自2025年4月2日起针对美国的非关税反制措施。
China will (i) modify accordingly the application of the additional ad valorem rate of duty on articles of the United States set forth in Announcement of the Customs Tariff Commission of the State Council No. 4 of 2025, by suspending 24 percentage points of that rate for an initial period of 90 days, while retaining the remaining additional ad valorem rate of 10 percent on those articles, and removing the modified additional ad valorem rates of duty on those articles imposed by Announcement of the Customs Tariff Commission of the State Council No. 5 of 2025 and Announcement of the Customs Tariff Commission of the State Council No. 6 of 2025; and (ii) adopt all necessary administrative measures to suspend or remove the non-tariff countermeasures taken against the United States since April 2, 2025.

After taking the aforementioned actions, the Parties will establish a mechanism to continue discussions about economic and trade relations. The representative from the Chinese side for these discussions will be He Lifeng, Vice Premier of the State Council, and the representatives from the U.S. side will be Scott Bessent, Secretary of the Treasury, and Jamieson Greer, United States Trade Representative. These discussions may be conducted alternately in China and the United States, or a third country upon agreement of the Parties. As required, the two sides may conduct working-level consultations on relevant economic and trade issues.

Fourth ministerial meeting of the China-CELAC Forum
On May 13, 2025, the Fourth Ministerial Meeting of the China-CELAC Forum was held in Beijing. The meeting was presided over by Member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Foreign Minister Wang Yi and attended by foreign ministers and representatives of member states of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC), as well as heads of regional organizations.

Wang Yi said that this year marks the tenth anniversary of the official launch of the China-CELAC Forum. Ten years ago, President Xi Jinping and Leaders of Latin American and Caribbean (LAC) countries jointly announced the establishment of the China-CELAC Forum and advocated for building a China-LAC community with a shared future. After a decade of dedicated efforts, the Forum has developed into a mature mechanism and an important platform for equal dialogue and mutually beneficial cooperation between China and LAC countries, adding new dimensions to the China-LAC comprehensive cooperative partnership and injecting fresh momentum into the building of a China-LAC community with a shared future. Over the past decade, the China-LAC strategic mutual trust has increasingly deepened, practical cooperation has consistently expanded, and the momentum of friendship has continued to grow.
王毅说，今年是中拉论坛正式运行十周年。十年前，习近平主席和拉方领导人共同宣布成立中拉论坛，倡导构建中拉命运共同体。经过十年悉心耕耘，论坛机制日臻成熟，已成为中拉平等对话、互利合作的重要平台，为中拉全面合作伙伴关系增添了新内涵，为构建中拉命运共同体注入了新动能。十年来，中拉战略互信更加深入，务实合作持续拓展，友好势能不断增强。
Wang Yi said that President Xi Jinping delivered an important address at the opening ceremony of the meeting this morning, expressing China's readiness to join hands with LAC countries to launch five programs to jointly seek development and revitalization and build a China-LAC community with a shared future. President Xi reached extensive common understandings with leaders of LAC countries, drawing up a blueprint and providing strategic guidance for the long-term development of China-LAC relations. China is ready to work with LAC countries to ensure the effective implementation of these programs.
王毅表示，今天上午，习近平主席在本次会议开幕式上发表重要讲话，指出中方愿同拉方携手启动五大工程，共谋发展振兴，共建中拉命运共同体，同拉方领导人形成广泛共识，为中拉关系长远未来描绘了发展蓝图，提供了战略指引。中方愿同拉方一道，共同做好落实工作。
The meeting adopted the Beijing Declaration of the Fourth Ministerial Meeting of the China-CELAC Forum and the China-CELAC Joint Action Plan for Cooperation in Key Areas (2025-2027).

Chinese health authorities have revoked the medical licenses of a surgeon and a trainee doctor following confirmed violations of professional ethics, personal conduct, and academic integrity, according to the National Health Commission (NHC) on Thursday.

Xiao Fei, a former thoracic surgeon at China-Japan Friendship Hospital, was expelled from the Communist Party of China, dismissed from his position, and banned from medical practice for at least five years. Dong Xiying, a medical trainee accused of Xiao's extramarital partner, was found guilty of academic fraud, with her academic degrees and medical qualifications revoked.

The NHC also found systemic flaws in the management of the "4+4" program at Peking Union Medical College, including weak admission oversight, insufficient academic supervision, and inadequate political and ethical education. A comprehensive review of the program is underway in coordination with the Ministry of Education.

Further investigations into related individuals and institutions are ongoing. The NHC emphasized that it will pursue accountability and strengthen efforts to improve medical ethics and patient safety nationwide.
