For the first time, an international collaboration led by Chinese researchers with the Yunnan Observatories of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) has adopted the transit timing variation (TTV) technique and detected the presence of a "super-Earth" codenamed Kepler-725c within the habitable zone of the sun-like star Kepler-725, which is a promising candidate for potential habitability.

由中国科学院云南天文台牵头的国际研究团队，在国际上首次借助TTV反演技术在类太阳恒星Kepler-725周围的宜居带发现了“超级地球”Kepler-725c。

Kepler-725c, the newly discovered non-transiting planet, orbits a G9V host star every 207.5 days. During part of its orbit, the planet lies within the host star’s habitable zone, making it a potential candidate for habitability, CAS said.

中国科学院称，这颗新发现的非凌星行星Kepler-725c围绕G9V型宿主恒星运行一圈大约需要207.5天。“超级地球”位于Kepler-725的宜居带，被认为是类地生命诞生的关键条件。

It may potentially harbor carbon-based life like that on Earth, but further investigation is required to assess whether the discovered habitable planet truly possesses conditions suitable for life, said Gu Shenghong, team leader at Yunnan Observatories.

云南天文台研究员顾盛宏介绍，超级地球Kepler-725c有可能存在类似于地球上的碳基生命，但已发现的宜居带行星是否真的具备类地生命存在的条件，还需要进一步探究。

The findings were published in the journal Nature Astronomy on Tuesday.

相关成果于6月3日正式发表在国际著名科学期刊《自然-天文》上。

Chinese scientists have confirmed the existence of a prehistoric matrilineal community in East China's Shandong province, pushing back the established timeline of matrilineal social societies, which were previously believed to have emerged no earlier than the Iron Age in Europe.

The research team analyzed ancient DNA alongside archaeological contexts and multiple stable isotopic data sets from 60 individuals in two separate cemeteries at the Fujia archaeological site in Shandong's coastal Guangrao County, dating back to between 2750 B.C. and 2500 B.C.

China's global favorability rising

US trade policy is making China great again — at the United States' expense, per an analysis from Morning Consult that looks at global favorability ratings, and finds China's rising while America's falls.

“中国全球好感度上升，对美国的看法转为负面”，美国晨间咨询公司发布的一项全球好感度调查显示，美国的贸易政策“正在让中国再次伟大”，而美国的全球好感度则因此下降。

Morning Consult surveyed adults in 41 countries including Canada, France, Japan, Russia and the UK.

据报道，美国晨间咨询公司对加拿大、法国、日本、俄罗斯和英国等41个国家的成年人的中美两国好感度数据进行追踪。

As of the end of May, China had an 8.8 net favorability rating, compared to -1.5 for the US, according to favorability data for last month provided exclusively to Axios by Morning Consult.

The data tracks net favorability ratings, or the share of respondents with a positive view of a country minus those with a negative view.
